The District Permit Clerk provides for the day-to-day operations of the District. This part-time position is assigned to the Fort Bend Subsidence District and works entirely out of their District Office in Richmond, TX.
Essential Functions

- Receive and process mail, emails, fax’s, online applications, and in person, on a daily basis.
- Deal with the public in person and by phone, to answer their questions about the operations of the District and their specific permitting needs.
- Work by phone with the field inspector.
- Aid the Executive Assistant and General Manager in the operations of the office.

The qualities of a well-qualified candidate will include:
- Excellent communication (oral and written)
- Outstanding organizational and planning abilities
- Techniques for providing a high level of customer service by effectively dealing with the public, and District staff.
- The structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Modern equipment tools, including computers and software programs relevant to work performed. Working knowledge of MS Office.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee may need to lift items of awkward size weighing up to 50lbs in and out of a vehicle. The employee will travel primarily by personally operated vehicle. Must be capable of reading, writing, and understanding material that is technical in nature.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time position. Typically, a twenty-hour work week. Typical office hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This position may be eligible for an alternative work schedule and duty stations. The primary duty station is in Richmond, TX.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day.
Required Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience, which would likely provide the necessary knowledge and abilities, is qualifying.
Preferred Education and Experience
- High school or general equivalency diploma
- Three or more years work experience in an office environment
- Valid driver’s license

- Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the District Mission.
