Deputy General Manager – Fort Bend Operations | |

Compensation:
Salary begins at $128,700 and is dependent on experience and qualifications. |

Job Summary:
The Deputy General Manager serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the Fort Bend Subsidence District, providing the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that the District has the proper systems in place to complete the District mission effectively. Works closely with the General Manager and Board of Directors to provide reasonable groundwater regulation to prevent further subsidence within Fort Bend County. This position will serve as the primary point of contact for the District’s regulatory plan and will represent FBSD at regulatory and water-related meetings, conferences, and workshops. The Deputy General Manager will manage and develop strategies to streamline operations internally with FBSD staff and externally with consultants and local entities. |

Competencies:

Required Education and Experience:
• Master’s degree in engineering, geology, hydrology, and/or business-related fields or equivalent experience. |

Preferred Education and Experience:
• Three years of work experience in or with a city, county, or state government entity. |
|
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
• Financial planning and analysis experience. |
|
Work Environment:

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee may need to lift items of awkward size weighing up to 50 lbs in and out of District Vehicles. The employee will travel primarily by personally operated vehicle and may occasionally fly to locations within Texas and nationwide. Must be capable of reading, writing, and understanding material that is highly technical in nature. |

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time, salaried position. Typically, a forty-hour workweek but can involve late hours of work as well as duty on an irregular timetable. Office hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This position is eligible for an alternative work schedule with duty stations in Richmond, TX, and Friendswood, TX. |

Travel:
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required. This position is officed at the Fort Bend Subsidence District office in Richmond, TX; however, travel to the Harris-Galveston Subsidence District office in Friendswood, TX, will be required as needed. |
